Description
AMOS 6 Mission Patch Commemorating Advanced Space Missions
The Amos-6 mission unfortunately never reached space. Here’s the story behind the Amos-6 mission patch and why you might not find one readily available: we also have 100th Space Shuttle Mission Patch Celebrating Milestones in Space
A Mission Cut Short:
Planned Launch: Amos-6, an Israeli communications satellite, was planned for launch on September 3rd, 2016, on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.
Launch Anomaly: During a pre-launch static fire test, an anomaly occurred on the launchpad, resulting in an explosion and the destruction of both the rocket and the Amos-6 satellite.
The Unflown Patch:
Leaked Design: Although the mission never launched, there were reports of a leaked design for the Amos-6 mission patch.
Unofficial Status: This leaked design would be considered unofficial as the mission itself never achieved flight.
Where You Won’t Find It:
Officially Produced Patches: Since there was no successful launch, there are no officially produced Amos-6 mission patches available from NASA, SpaceX, or the Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI)
