Description
Army Security Agency Patch
The Army Security Agency (ASA) was one of the foremost organizations in the United States Army whose primary eminence was the intelligence and security as well as the administration of communications facilities for military use. ASA was deactivated in 1977 and was replaced with the functions of the United States Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM).We also have Army Veteran Patches
To distinguish between its complex units and its personnel, the ASA used various types of patches. These patches usually
had the ASA crest; a symbol that included a red shield with a white lightning bolt alongside a golden eagle. The shield was sometimes enclosed in a circle of laurel leaves and in some models, the patch was black with a white margin.
Some of the most common ASA patches include:
The ASA Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI): This patch was to be worn on the right chest made from the ASA crest.
The ASA Unit Patches: These patches were unique to certain units within the ASA, 7th signal Brigade patch and the 500th Military Intelligence Group patch.
The ASA Special Skill Badges: Such badges were worn by soldiers who went through professional training which involved cryptography, intelligence, and electronics.
The ASA patches are of a great historical significance to the military and that is why collectors love them. They depict the work played by the ASA during the defense of the United States.
There are numerous other ASA patches, which have been used earlier in the history of agency that are given below: These patches can be of any shape, pattern and color but they all have something that seems to beiare the ASA crest.
