Army Patches Vietnam
Through the Vietnam War era, different styles of recognizable patches were visible on the Americans soldiers. These patches designated unit, division or special operations groups, respectively. Many of them contained references that were historical, professional or geographical in relation to the unit. We also have Army Rangers Patch
Some of the most recognizable Vietnam War era Army patches include:
1st Cavalry Division Patch: This patch, titled the ‘First Team’ consists of yellow background with a black horse head insignia. The 1st Cavalry Division was arguably one of the earliest formations of the US Army to transfer to Vietnam and was involved in the fighting.
101st Airborne Division Patch: The Screaming Eagles of this division have a white eagle with wings spread on the red background of the patch. Officially an airmobile division, the 101st Airborne all through the war participated in many counter assaults.
173rd Airborne Brigade Patch: This patch is called the “Sky Soldiers and is designed in bright yellow with the image of the red devil head. The 173rd Airborne Brigade, the first US Army unit to arrive, was to fight in many battles in South Vietnam.
Special Forces Patch: The Special Forces combat shirt and hat come with insignia: a golden eagle with a lightning bolt and all on a dark blue background which is famously referred to as the Green
